Joomla Extension: mod_floater

CMS: Joomla Version:  Type: module Extension Topic:

Floater Module mod_floater: Module for Joomla 1.0.x, based on DOM Scripting and initial ideas from orthopal.com You can float in ANY module from the left browser edge to the right as far as you wish... Hint: if you want to use this for content - create an Section/Category called Floater/Floater, COPY the Newsflash modul, set it to show Floater/Floater and publish it to the floater position. Any content published in Floater/Floater will now slide in... Installation: Please read these Instructions carefully - I will not answer questions regarding installation procedure. 1) Backend > Modules > Site Modules: publish mod_floater to any existing module position(NOT floater!). Example: "user5" It doesn't matter where you publish mod_floater since the floating box will float in a layer above your content. This module position must be published and exist in your pages HTML template in Joomla. Optional: For easier identification - create a new Module position(see Step 2), let's call it floatright for example - add this new position to your Joomla template HTML. Now assign mod_floater to this position. 2) Go to Control Panel > Site > Template Manager >Module Position and create a module position floater. You don't have to add this position to your Joomla template HTML. However, do assign the module to appear on any pages you wish the float box to appear on. 3) Publish ANY module to the new floater position and it will float in from the left. A possible module would be Newsflash or the optional Content Item Module. 4) Do NOT publish mod_floater in the floater position. It will stop the page loading. 5) Test Module. Adjust size, floating speed and all the other parameters as desired. Optional NEW: To be able to use the CSS control you must add _floater to the Module Class Suffix of the Content Module you are using (NOT mod_floater!) You can contact me at www.r3d.de for bugs and modifications. This is a beta version - please test and give some feedback(Last update: May 23. 2007 - version 1.2beta) Thanks goes to David Taylor and Ed Miller, for help with these instructions... NEW in 1.2beta: - Sessioncontrol - Extra CSS control (needed for some templates)
