The popular open source CMS, and more recently, the environment for creating web applications - Drupal continues to attack the IT departments of the US government. The House of Representatives (lower house of Congress) chose Drupal as the preferred management system for its web representation, House.gov. Thus, the so-called "People's House" is becoming one of the largest state institutions that have switched to the open source web content management system.

This step has been done after a number of transitions to open CMS of the websites of the largest American federal government agencies, including WhiteHouse.gov and absolutely recent Energy.gov.

The House.gov platform passes to Drupal while on "moving" of the website House.gov time is required already now, and it, according to representatives of chamber, will happen in the next several months. In fact House.gov is the huge portal conducting visitors on more than 520 websites which work in the uniform domain. Each separate office has own website in the domain of the third level, with own budget and suppliers which is integrated into infrastructure of the head portal.

The administration of House.gov expects to save money with transition to Drupal as will be able to operate infrastructure independently, and members of the platform will pay suppliers of decisions for development independently.

As one representative of administration of the lower house of the U. S. Congress has told, the Drupal platform has been chosen as has an open source code and has already gained wide recognition around the world that allows any who is a member of House.gov, to use force of big community of programmers that gives them the widest field for expansion of opportunities and innovations. At the same time it is noted that those members of chamber who will wish will still be able to use and other platforms for the web representations.

But congressmen and kongressmensh quite willingly transfer the personal websites to Drupal. Templates of system have been noticed on several official sites of members of the House of Representatives.
